New Logo

We have a lovely new logo which will be introduced over the next few weeks. The logo was designed by Jenni Taylor from printing.com Leicester.(www.leicestershirecares.co.uk/ProHelp.html). We were put in touch with Jenni after approaching Leicestershire Cares ProHelp (www.leicestershirecares.co.uk/ProHelp.html) for support in redesigning our marketing materials.

 Christmas Dinner 2011

On the 27th November 2011 SOFA invited all volunteers, trustees and staff for a Christmas dinner at “The Swans In The Rushes” in Loughborough. Keeping in mind the great work and effort as a team throughout the year we all had the chance to once more socialise and had a great time playing skittles.

SOFA at Loughborough Market Stall

Thank you to Charnwood Borough Council for inviting us to be a part of the Christmas Celebrations in the town centre on Sunday 27th November 2011.

Sofa presented a selection of furniture and other items on a Charity Fair stall at Loughborough Market to raise people’s awareness of our Furniture Reuse Project. We had a fantastic sale and gave out lots of business cards.

Thanks to volunteers, trustees and staff that contributed to this successful event.

In Memory of David Shales

David Shales passed away on June 10th 2011.

David volunteered at Sofa during the Autumn of 2010. Unable to lift heavy items he enjoyed dusting and mopping, and also went out on the van a few times to collect donated furniture and carry light items, which he really enjoyed.

David had a lovely sense of humour and a real twinkle in his eye.

His sister-in-law described Sofa as being one of David’s best experiences and said that his family felt that Sofa did more for him than anywhere else.

We have all been touched by David’s parents’ decision to ask that donations be made to Sofa in his memory, and are glad to know that David enjoyed and benefited from the time he spent with us.

We have received £400 in total, which will go a long way towards supporting volunteers like David who work with us all the time.

  • Snibston Discovery Museum
  • Bosworth Battlefield Centre
  • Beacon Hill
  • Foxton Locks
  • Leicester Botanic Gardens
  • Blaby St. John’s Precinct
  • Melton Market

Our furniture was pictured at the top of Beacon Hill in the Loughborough Echo on Thursday 18th August 2011.
